weather-map.co.uk is a free weather map and forecast site. It doesn't have user accounts, doesn't sell data, and doesn't run advertising. This page explains what's collected when you visit, and by whom.

Information you give the site

If you search for a place or click the map, that location (a place name and/or latitude/longitude) is sent to the forecast and geocoding services listed below so they can return weather data for it. Favourite locations are saved only in your browser's local storage (wm-favourites) — they're never sent to us and stay on your device until you clear your browser data.

Third-party services used on this site

These run when you load a page. Each is linked to its own privacy policy for details of what they collect.

Open-Meteo — weather forecasts & climate data

Your browser sends the location you're viewing (coordinates) directly to Open-Meteo to fetch current conditions, hourly and 7-day forecasts. No API key or account is used.

BigDataCloud — reverse geocoding

When you drop a pin on the map, its coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to look up a place name for it.

RainViewer — rain radar

Radar tile imagery is loaded from RainViewer when the radar layer is switched on.

Map tiles

Background map imagery is loaded from a third-party tile provider (currently CARTO/OpenStreetMap-based) as you pan and zoom the map.

Google Tag Manager & StatCounter — analytics

This site uses Google Tag Manager and StatCounter to understand traffic and usage (pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device/browser type). These set cookies and similar identifiers in your browser. They are not used to identify you personally, and this site does not use the data for advertising.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser's settings, and use private/incognito browsing to avoid persistent cookies altogether. Blocking cookies won't stop the map or forecasts working — it only affects analytics.
